What you can do

We need to know how Access to Work decisions are affecting deaf and deafblind people.  We can use your experiences to convince the government to make changes.

Tell us your story

We understand you might be reluctant to share your story.  So we’ll work with you to make sure it’s anonymous before we use it.

Even if you don’t want us to use your story, we’d still like to hear about it.  It will remain confidential, but it will be useful in helping us to understand how Access to Work is affecting people.

We particularly want to hear about:

  • employers refusing to support you by paying some of the costs of interpreter support;
  • employers expecting you to pay some of the costs of interpreter support;
  • loss of employment as a result of Access to Work decisions; and,
  • loss of seniority or promotion as a result of Access to Work decisions.

Please tell us:

  • your name;
  • your job title;
  • who you work for;
  • if your employer pays for any support for you;
  • the support you applied to Access to Work for;
  • the support you got from Access to Work;
  • the reasons Access to Work gave for their decision;
  • if you asked Access to Work to reconsider, and what happened; and
  • what impact this has had on your job.

You can email your story to dan.sumners@signature.org.uk .

Tell your MP

You can tell your MP about how Access to Work is affecting you. As your representative, they may be able to help you challenge an unfair decision.
